With the transition to a circular economy, the use of non-fossil raw materials is gaining more and more importance for the chemical industry. In this context high transparency standards for the handling of raw materials and the resulting products are demanded. We will explain how mass balancing was introduced at Covestro and will show the possibilities and implications that mass balancing as a chain-of-custody model presents for the chemical industry and thus for downstream users.
