nolax has developed novel adhesive and coating systems, which can be used for durable and flexible applications that withstand high temperatures of up to 900°C. In order to maintain a good bond in high-temperature environments, unique chemistry is required since organic substances of conventional formulations break down and escape when temperatures increase, resulting in a failure of the bonded joint. The new adhesive and coating systems, based on aqueous silicone resin dispersions, address the shortcomings of the state-of-the-art solutions and set standards for increased heat resistance as well as a reduction of heat transfer. They are used for a wide range of applications, such as fire curtains in buildings or battery covers in automobiles.

nolax will present this new water-based adhesive and coating technology and introduce potential applications. The advantages in comparison to today’s state-of-the-art solutions will also be demonstrated. The presentation will focus in particular on product development and successful market introduction in the fire curtain sector. The novel material reduces the weight of an EI fire curtain by 30% while achieving A2 classification. It is suitable for space-saving installations and thus also meets the needs of builders, planners and architects.
