Richard Vendamme is Senior Research Scientist at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) in Mol, Belgium. He obtained a master’s degree in chemistry in France in 2001, and his PhD at the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz (Germany) in 2004. He then started his career at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) in Tokyo, Japan. In 2007, he joined Nitto Corporation, one of Japan’s leading diversified materials manufacturers, where he was successively involved in R&D, innovation, and techno-marketing activities. He is working at VITO since April 2017 in the field of bio-aromatics and biopolymer development.
