Sustainability is a continuous process that requires constant evolution along the value chain from raw material producer to adhesives and sealants manufacturer. The role of the distributor is lesser known. In this talk we will explore distributor’s contribution to sustainability in the adhesive and sealants value chain. The basic distributor role is the movement and storage of goods. We will present our model to lower the emissions in the supply chain and provide accurate data to all partners. Providing accessibility to a wide portfolio is a further role of a distributor. We will outline the IMCD approach on building a sustainable portfolio that starts with evaluating a material’s sustainability advantages. A third aspect in the sustainability contribution of a distributor, is formulation support. Facing requests coming from a wide variety of final applications and dealing with almost all the possible adhesive technologies, the talk will use a 1 or 2 examples to better explain how a distributor can create a significant contribution to deliver, innovate and drive adoption of sustainable solutions.
