This session will look back at the legislative situation at the point that the UK left the EU and will summarise the deliberate or accidental divergence that has happened since 31 January 2020 when the UK left the EU and entered the transition period that ran to 31 December 2020; the date that the United Kingdom left the EU single market and customs union.

We will look into the possible future direction of UK legislation in relation to chemicals, construction, and food contact. The presentation will look at REACH, CLP, Biocidal Products Regulations, Construction Products Regulations, Extended Producer Responsibility, Food Contact Legislation,  Drinking Water legislation and the differences in the Chemicals strategy between the UK and the EU and how this might impact the sector. We will look at the actual legislation in place, how it differs today and discuss any likely divergence on future. Hopefully, we can offer some suggestions as to how to keep track of the inevitable changes likely over the coming years and the importance of membership of your local trade association to deal with the specifics of compliance in a world of ever-increasing legislative burden.
