Catherine Corfias-Zuccalli is a chemical engineer and has a PhD in materials science.

She’s been holding R & D responsibilities for 15 years in various Arkema activities, working on different applications such as plastic pressure pipes for gas and drinking water, coextruded plastic films for food packaging, hot melt adhesives and plastic films used in photovoltaic panels.

For the last seven years, she has been technical manager for EMEA at Coatex, also in charge of the development of rheological additives used in various water-borne systems from Paints & Coatings to Adhesives & Sealants.

New low carbon footprint acrylic thickener

Arkema's ambition is to offer innovative and sustainable solutions to our partners, as part of our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Therefore our R&D and production teams have joint efforts in order to revisit our raw material selection, product composition and provide innovation in our manufacturing process in order to reduce the carbon footprint of our acrylic thickeners.

The first outcome of this initiative is the launch of our new Rheotech™ 4000 LC. This acrylic thickener exhibits good rheological properties with a lower carbon footprint compared to similar standard pseudoplastic HASE thickeners.

The objective of this presentation is to demonstrate that the new Rheotech™ 4000 LC with a lower carbon footprint have application performances at least equivalent or even improved, to similar conventional additives, in particular in water-borne acrylic sealants.
