Presentation Abstract

Safer Systems – Novel Isocyanate and BPA Free Technology for Adhesives and Sealants

Polyurethane and epoxy based adhesives are widely used as industrial adhesives. Due to health and safety concerns of isocyanates, bisphenols and further substances of high concern, restrictions in Europe are proceeding. Based on these, demands for safer alternatives are growing. Recently, Henkel launched the first product line based on an alternative reactive system, being neither polyurethane nor epoxy based. It was found that this technology, marketed as LOCTITE NEO, can bring a lot of value on top of improved safety profiles. After a general introduction, these benefits will be showcased for one of the applications. This allows for a significant simplification of the production process at our customer. The fit to Henkel’s sustainability ambitions will be illustrated as well.
