Project Manager Application Technology

Rain Carbon Germany GmbH

Biography

Dr Matthias Steffen completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 2018 as part of an industrial project in cooperation with H.B Fuller with the aim of developing bio-based polymers for hotmelt adhesives.

Since 2018, Dr Matthias Steffen has been working as a project manager in the field of application technology for adhesives at Rain Carbon Germany. In 2021, he took over the management of the task force "Biobased Materials" and in 2022 he introduced the ISCC+ certification as project manager.

Presentation Abstract

Novel sustainable aromatic tackifiers and resource efficient production ways therefore

In response to the increasing demand for sustainable products, Rain Carbon, as a European hydrocarbon resin manufacturer, is committed to producing sustainable products with environmentally friendly technology and a minimized carbon footprint.

The newly launched NOAVERS eco product line stands for sustainable aromatic resins, enabling a direct switch from known aromatic and pure monomer-based resins to sustainable alternatives without any loss of application performance.

Meanwhile, new developments based on chemically recycled or bio-based raw materials will take advantage of the circular economy and open up new possibilities in product structure and properties. As a third part of our efforts, a rigorous carbon footprint analysis will provide a transparent causal landscape and reveal feasibility and entry points for innovation.

The presentation will outline Rain Carbon's short and long term sustainability goals, initial R&D results of renewable resource based products and future prospects.
